Helpful Terms
account fields
Field tags that capture important information and will be included in Outside User Completion emails (phone number, name, etc.). Account fields are determined by the administrator and can be modified during the setup.
child template
Template that will be imported into the parent template for conditional field types.
field tags
Denoted by dollar sign curly bracket field name curly bracket in the template (i.e., ${First-Name} ${Last-Name}). During the setup, field tags are assigned different types to create the questions users will see in the interview.
sessions
Collection of questions that users will complete on DraftOnce. One interview can be comprised of several templates that can be exported upon completion.
label
Subheading text that will appear in the interview. Appears below the question and in smaller font.
parent template
Main template that will receive the child template for conditional field types.
question
Dominant text that appears above the label and in larger font.
templates
Files that are uploaded into DraftOnce and will produce the final export document. While DraftOnce supports RTF and TXT files, DOCX is the preferred format when configuring client setups.
trigger field
Must be a check-yes or yes-no conditional that will prompt relevant, dependent conditional to be imported.
Field Types
calculation
DraftOnce supports three calculation types: sum, product, average.
checkbox
Selected answers will export in a list format separated by a comma.
checkbox symbol
Presentation for checkbox symbol and checkbox are identical. However, checkbox symbol will export all selected and unselected answers. Selected answers will be marked with a checkbox symbol.
check-yes conditional
Check-yes conditionals are functionally identical to yes-no conditionals. However, users select a checkbox instead of a radio button. Dependent conditionals can be configured to be triggered by a check-yes conditional.
date
DraftOnce supports several date formats that can be configured when assigning field tags.
dependent conditional This conditional type must be connected to a yes-no or check-yes conditional. The associated yes-no or check-yes conditional question is called the trigger field. This can be useful when additional clauses need to be imported into different areas of the parent template.
dropdown list
Possible answers will be displayed under a collapsible list. Users will only be able to select one answer for dropdown lists.
multi-choice conditional
Similar to check-yes or yes-conditional but with the option to have several choices. Unlike the other conditional types, each multi-choice conditional answer will bring in a different child template.
radio
This is a way to present multiple-choice questions to users. Only one answer can be selected, and only the answer will be exported (no symbols). If there are multiple choices, radio button can be visually overwhelming. In these situations, opt for dropdown lists.
auto adjust table
Use this when there are rows in a table that repeat to accept multiple entries. When exporting, template will not show any uncompleted rows. Note that there is a different tagging convention that is used for repeating table rows.
text field
Use text fields when asking for short, open-ended questions. Because of the short character limit, use text area if users will be responding will long, multiple-sentence answers.
text area
Similar to text field but with a much longer character limit.
yes-no conditional
This is a way to include separate templates or questions when the “Yes” option is selected. Note that “No” option will not bring in a different child template. Instead, the “No” option can be configured to bring in certain text into parent template.
